As a reminder, we are changing the way in which we organize and share peer-reviewed literature on public health and health care in Palestine. We created thematic article collections that are stored in PubMed to make searching and filtering easier. The collections currently include articles published between January 1, 2026 and May 8, 2026. We are working to add articles published in prior years, and we will update the collections with new articles on a bi-weekly basis.
Publications from the past two weeks include:
Children’s respiratory health risks in the Gaza war: a call to act
The Lancet Respiratory Medicine
This commentary discusses the widespread and prolonged exposure of children in Gaza to extreme levels of airborne pollutants generated by Israel’s destruction of Gaza. The authors emphasize that this exposure is occurring during critical periods of fetal and child lung development, contributing to what they term “siege pollution exposure respiratory syndrome.”
Israel’s 'Plausible' Genocide in Gaza – The Devastation of Health and Human Rights
Social Medicine
This article discusses how U.S. medical journals and academic institutions have remained silent in the face of Israel’s genocide in Gaza despite extensive evidence of mass civilian killing and the use of starvation as a weapon of war. The authors emphasize that Israel is now using similar tactics in Iran and Lebanon and urge the medical establishment to “apply standards of human rights to all human beings equally, without exception.”
Additional articles can be found in the following collections:
Mental and behavioral health
Hospitals, health care, and health infrastructure
Public health and medical workforce
Institutional silence, repression, and complicity
Infectious and communicable disease
